It was recorded in the Chateau Lounge by my friend John Larsen on December 3, 1982. Wow! The Redwood was a cafe and lounge in Fairmont, Minnesota my hometown. The quality of the recording is fabulous. We were playing a lot in those days and it shows. To hear again the late great Don Pavel on lead guitar along with Bruce Burnside on mandolin and guitar and Jack Gunderson on bass (and yours truly) is a treat. Some of the songs on the CD are Tall Buildings by John Hartford, Lonesome Fiddle Blues by Vassar Clements, a medley of Sons Of The Pioneers songs, Mary Ellen Carter by Stan Rodgers, Minnesota Summertime, a song of mine and Jaded Lover by Jerry Jeff Walker.
